Comin’ atcha this fall is the one, the only…Million Dollar Quartet! Rockin’ you back real good to Memphis, 1956, when the now iconic progenitors of rock, the then young country boys, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash, find themselves unable to resist singin’ and playin’ an impromptu jam session of all the greatest hits that fathered the birth of Rock ‘n Roll! Just think of your favorite song by one of these superstars, and this show’s got it! Directing this one, I’m gonna name a half dozen of ’em for ya right here: “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Folsom Prison Blues,” “Hound Dog,” “Ghost Riders In The Sky,” “Great Balls Of Fire,” and “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Going’ On!” And you’ll learn a little something’ about that legendary December night at Sun Studios owned by the great Sam Phillips, the recording producer who made it all happen. Discovering these farm boys who became musical geniuses, the pioneering Mr. Phillips has been inducted into more halls of fame than you can count on one hand!

Take a break from the hectic, commercial, retail routine of the holidays this year and rediscover the true meaning of giving by bringing your family and loved ones to the musical comedy tale of everybody’s favorite Santa’s helper, Elf! This record-breaking box office hit, the spectacular stage adaptation of the beloved movie, is a big and brassy Broadway mix of hilarity and heart, directed and choreographed by none other than Amber Mak, who remarkably helmed Paramount’s wondrous and creative The Little Mermaid and Hairspray! Amber returns to have this cast belting out tunes and dancing their way into memories warming you all winter long!

The soundscape of our third show turns a corner as we follow the exotic dancing girls of the divinely decadent Kander and Ebb “Kit Kat Klub” in the internationally acclaimed, multi-Tony Award winning masterpiece Cabaret. This production marks the directing debut of the young choreographer Katie Spelman who transfixed audiences last season with her dances and Dream Ballet in Paramount’s wildly popular Oklahoma! and also choreographed our RENT and In the Heights. Set during the rise of The Weimar Republic, Christopher Isherwood’s journal, The Berlin Stories, and the subsequent play, I Am a Camera by John Van Druten, are adapted here by Joe Masteroff in a chilling musical narrative of the adventure of a young writer in Berlin shacking up with a nightclub singer as they throw caution to the wind amidst the Nazi takeover and Jewish persecution. “Leave your troubles outside!”

Lucky Season Seven wraps up in the arms of the longing for love romance Oncewinner of no less than eight Tony Awards, a sensation touring nationally and internationally. Paramount’s made right here in Aurora production (something which many theatre goers still do not realize is the case for all our Broadway Series shows!) will deliver on the unique charms of this Broadway success based on the beautiful score of the film including the Academy Award winning song “Falling Slowly.” In a Dublin bar, a singer-songwriter guitar playing guy catches the eye of a spirited, wise cracking Czech girl who lifts his soul out of an artistic tailspin in the course of a few rollicking life changing days. A contemporary and pure romance, full of theatrical and musical beauty, I can’t believe my luck in getting to do this one.

Heck, all of ’em! Lucky for all the shows we are presenting and have presented to you these past six years and lucky to have you as patrons supporting everything we are doing! Thusly, I am dubbing this season, “Lucky Seven!”

See ya later, alligator!

Love & thanks,

Jim
