A teenage girl becomes a TV dance star and uses her fame to fight for integration and acceptance.
In 1960s Baltimore, Tracy Turnblad dreams of dancing on a popular TV show. When she becomes a local celebrity, Tracy uses her newfound fame to challenge segregation and promote equality and acceptance, all while pursuing her dreams and finding her place in the spotlight.
