Author, humorist, playwright and memoirist David Sedaris has a reputation for being a storyteller with a biting wit. Now, get ready to laugh, wince, and maybe even cry before you laugh again, repeatedly, as Sedaris reads excerpts from his essays and books live from the Paramount stage.

This graduate of Chicago’s School of the Art Institute first entered the American consciousness in 1992 with a satirical reading of an essay on NPR describing what it was like to be a Santa’s elf at Macy’s, titled Santaland Diaries. He has since gone on to entertain readers with a dozen best-selling published works of fiction and personal essays, including titles: Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, and Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls. Published in anthologies and frequently in the New Yorker, his humor nevertheless has wide appeal, and is especially enjoyed on the stage when he reads excerpts to live audiences as he will do on April 14 for his Paramount appearance.

Sedaris’ years of reading his essays on radio shows, and to live audiences have honed his impeccable storytelling instincts and earned him multiple Grammy award nominations for his audiobooks.

Sedaris’ humor is a blend of piercing observations about modern life, reminiscences about his dysfunctional childhood, and his own quirky tendencies, all of which combine to make for a fascinating tale told by what the Chicago Tribune calls “One of the greatest humorists writing today.”

Booklovers, storytellers, the dramatic amongst us, and people who love to laugh–all are welcome for this incredible appearance by Sedaris.
