What was the main theme of your wedding? How did it all work together?
The theme was inspired by old movies we love, especially Casablanca. Tim wore a white coat with black trim, and Sandy wore a tea-length Audrey Hepburn-style dress that flared when she spun during the first dance.
We included a cigar bar because Tim enjoys cigars, and with the venue’s outdoor patio overlooking the Fox River, it felt like a fun and fitting way to celebrate. Our printed pieces—save-the-dates, invitations, and posters—featured a black and gold art deco style to match the vintage theme.
We also wanted the event to feel fun and relaxed for our guests. One of our favorite touches was having the groom, officiant, and best man walk to the altar to “Another One Bites the Dust.”
We chose the Meyer Ballroom because it was affordable and included a lot of helpful items, like the lantern centerpieces. We also liked that each guest received a complimentary theatre voucher for Paramount Theatre production from that season. The staff provided excellent service and helped make the day go smoothly.
Tell us a bit about you!
This was not our first wedding, and we realized that with age we appreciate every detail, and we tried to make every detail meaningful. We knew we didn’t need to have a big party, we could have eloped! But we wanted to bring our friends and family together because life is precious and short and we wanted to make memories with the people we love.
