Kevin and Analisa got married last September in style with a ceremony and reception in the Meyer Ballroom, bringing a team of experts on board to make their day shine.
We asked them to tell us about the experience, and they shared all the highlights that made their unique event personalized and memorable.
What was the main theme of your wedding? How did it all work together?
Our main goal was to incorporate fall colors and a few of our favorite things. For example, we had newspaper programs because I (the bride) am a journalist and within that we had a “letter from the editor” featuring our cat, Pretzel. The crossword on the back was made up of clues with all of our favorite shows, movies and other fun facts (such as many Ted Lasso, classic rock and Taylor Swift references).
The ceremony music and our signature drinks featured our two favorite musical artists: Queen and, of course, Taylor Swift. We LOVED using the venue’s movie poster holders to display movie posters featuring our bridal party. We had each of our groomsmen, bridesmaids, the bride and groom, ring bearer and flower girl photoshopped into some of our favorite movies: Star Wars, Lord of the Rings and Hocus Pocus. The Paramount folks even accommodated a special request we had to have one of our close friend’s jazz duo perform during cocktail hour. It was a smash success and a touch Kevin and I very much enjoyed!
Our photobooth had tons of custom props including items from our go-to shows, video games, movies and more. Among those we saw used most frequently in our photobooth book after the wedding were two cardboard cut outs of our cat’s face that people loved holding up and our “Best Wedding Guest Dundee Award.” We also opted for a massive sweets table because Kevin and I love all things sweets! We had custom labels made for cardboard dessert boxes where guests could take home something sweet from the dessert table as the wedding favor.
We ended the evening with a private last dance and the staff were so kind to get a few photos and videos of us! We loved seeing the entire venue with all of the candles and theater lights through the gorgeous windows. It was the perfect way to end the evening before saying goodbye to all of our guests.
Tell us a bit about you!
I am an investigative journalist and Kevin works for Wild Fork, which is a frozen meat and seafood market that has been opening stores more recently throughout the Chicagoland area. We both love all things entertainment: television shows (some of our favorites are Ted Lasso, The Walking Dead, The Rookie, Wednesday, The Office etc.), movies, musicals, music, and especially board games. Our favorite way to spend time together is to cook together — many times we enjoy pretending as though we are competing on an episode of MasterChef and that Gordon Ramsay is our judge.
We met in the fall of 2015 through one of my longtime childhood friends who happened to go to the same college as Kevin. They lived in the same dorm building and she introduced us on a Facetime call one night and we hit it off. Kevin and I supported each other through school, encouraged each other to go after a variety of internships and jobs even if it meant we had to spend some time living far from one another. One thing we both appreciate very much about our relationship is that we have never failed to support one another.
