Paramount’s Newsies Press Opening is Friday night! During 7 previews last week, day-long rehearsals continued and will pick up again this afternoon and tonight for two shows tomorrow. Rehearsals Thursday afternoon will wrap things up before that night’s final preview. It’s a grueling schedule for our superb production team, tech crew, stage management, designers and this incredible cast and orchestra. Their dedication and stamina is astounding!
An energy pervades and impresses with a seeming effortlessness and tirelessness that can only be explained by the force of their commitment. An enthusiasm unifies this company that is palpable in how they genuinely admire and support each other. For all their unique differences and individuality, I see a bond that has created something quite special onstage and behind the scenes.
Audiences are taking notice and it’s clear, cheering standing ovations will take us into the beginning of Paramount’s Broadway Series Season No. 9!
It may have something to do with this galvanizing appreciation for the voice they are giving to those disenfranchised kids on strike and their fight to stand up for what is right and fair. The next few days detail, refine and finesse a piece of work that is already enthralling the crowds through previews. Audiences are taking notice and it’s clear, cheering standing ovations will take us into the beginning of Paramount’s Broadway Series Season No. 9! (How did all this happen so fast?!)
