AUDITION-BASED PROGRAMMING

PSA is excited to announce Season 4 Auditions for our Audition Based Programs. You can find all you need to know about our ABP programs here. We encourage our students to audition IN PERSON for our year long audition-based programs in musical theater, acting, and dance. 

In Person Auditions will be Friday, August 12 from 5-8 pm and Saturday, August 13 from 10am-12pm and 1-4 pm. 

Interested students must sign up for an open call audition time slot and can do so by clicking the links below.

Friday August 12th 5-8 pm

Saturday August 13 10am-12pm

Saturday August 13 1-4 pm 

Please note that by signing up for your session you will be called at the start time for the entire session in order to be present for a formal dance call. After the dance call is completed students will have a 15 minute break to get ready for their individual calls. Each student will be seen one at a time in order of their assigned numbers that will be picked up upon arrival. 

**Students will be dismissed after their individual call. 

***If you are auditioning for AI only you can arrive 1 hour after the start of the open call. 

YTC and MTI students must prepare One 1-minute song and One 1-minute monologue. Also must participate in the dance call.

AI students must prepare Two 1 minute monologues in contrasting themes. 

PDP & PDP Jr students must prepare One 90-second self-choreographed piece and will be asked to demonstrate 1st arabesque on each side, pirouettes on each side, grande jeté on each side.

 

YTC = Youth Theater Conservatory Grades 6-8

MTI = Musical Theater Institute Grades 9-12 

AI = Acting Institute Grades 9-12 

PDP Jr = Paramount Dance Project Jr Grades 6-8 

PDP = Paramount Dance Project Grades 9=12

Students who cannot make the in person audition dates may submit a video audition for consideration by Monday, August 15th at 9:00 am.

Youth Theater Conservatory

Youth Theater Conservatory

$500 Per Semester – Including 3.5 hours of instruction/week

Youth Theater Conservatory (YTC) is a three-year training program for middle school students in grades 6-8. It’s for students with a passion for singing, dancing, and acting who need to express their creativity. Over three years, students build a strong foundation in intermediate and advanced classes in musical theater. This program is fantastic preparation for students interested in auditioning for Musical Theater Institute, our high-school pre-professional training program. To maximize your training, we suggest students enroll in all three years of the program. However, we realize that many might just be discovering YTC. In those cases, we host auditions for new students every fall and late spring, and we accept new students in the FALL and SUMMER programs. The Fall program is a year long commitment and will run in both of our fall and spring semesters.

The YTC Summer Camp intensive builds on the materials learned in the year long programming and introduces new skills to prepare the students to perform their learned skills in a self produced showcase at the end of camp. The morning hours are spent on training voice, acting and dance, while the afternoon is spent applying that training to rehearsal of the showcase The summer program is for students in rising grades 6-8.

Musical Theater Institute

Musical Theater Institute

$500 Per Semester – this includes 3.5 hours of instruction/week

Musical Theater Institute (MTI) is an elite pre-professional training program designed for high school students in grades 9-12 who are looking to make a career in musical theater. This is the most comprehensive training program outside of Chicago. Our four-year program prepares students to go on to the best college training programs in the country or to venture out in the professional theater world. To reach your peak potential, we suggest students take all four years of MTI. However, we do accept new students into the program every FALL and SUMMER with auditions held in July and April. The Fall program is a year long commitment and will run in both of our fall and spring semesters.  All students in MTI are required to take private voice lessons outside of classes.

SUMMER (For MTI Years 1-4) An intensive camp for those truly dedicated to the art form. The morning focus is on training in voice, acting and dance. This camp is open to students in rising grades 9-12.

Paramount Dance Project

Paramount Dance ProjecT

$375 Per Semester – this includes 3.5 hours of instruction/week

Paramount Dance Project (PDP) is the official dance company of Paramount School of the Arts. PDP is for high school students in grades 9-12. This program combines intense technique sessions with an introduction to diverse styles of dance. Company members train five hours a week together as a company, with the opportunity to add a sixth hour of Tap Technique free of charge. Members also work on original pieces of choreography as a group, as well as solo work, all of which will be premiered at their end of the season showcase. Being a PDP company member provides dancers the opportunity to train with like minded individuals that are looking to expand their technical skills, open their artistic development and prepare for continuing their dance journey after high school. All company members will also receive personalized assistance in preparation for college program auditions.

Summer

This one week dance intensive that immerses students in technique and artistry, while working on conditioning and developing their own choreography. The camp culminates in a public student choreography showcase. We currently audition new company members for the Fall and Summer trimesters. The Fall program is a year long commitment and will run in both of our fall and spring semesters.

  • Students currently enrolled in YTC, MTI or PDP are guaranteed a spot in summer camps/intensives, as long as they sign up during the priority registration period. 
Course Work
  • PDP members will take classes 2 days a week. The courses are as follows:
    • Tuesdays 5—7 PM
      • Technique class in ballet and jazz. Company members will train together in a 2 hour long technique class focusing on ballet and jazz technique.
    • Thursdays 6–7:30 PM
      • Conditioning and Artistry. Company members will train together in a 1 hour long conditioning class that will include training in strength, endurance, flexibility, and anatomy understanding. They will train together for 2 hours in artistry which will include learning choreography in different styles of dance, work on creating original choreography together, and creating pieces for company based performance opportunities when available.

Acting Institute

Acting Institute

$400.00 per semester up to 3.5 hours of instruction/week.

Students will also be given opportunities to attend performances, community programs, masterclasses, talk backs, special field trips, and private coaching. By the end of the 4 year program the students should be ready to audition for a university theater program or enter the world of professional acting.

Age Range
  • Grades 9–12 / Age 14–19

Students will also be given opportunities to attend performances, community programs, masterclasses, talk backs, special field trips, and private coaching. By the end of the 4 year program the students should be ready to audition for a university theatre program or enter the world of professional acting.
