Today is the first full day of rehearsal for Paramount’s production of MARY POPPINS! Another All-Chicago, All-Star cast having their official full company Meet & Greet in our rehearsal hall at The Elks! With Rachel Rockwell at the helm, directing and choreographing, this cast has already begun to mine the goodness and richness in this story in their own inimitable way, that from the buzz I’ve heard from the actors themselves who have begun early rehearsals last week.
This is our 14th show, ladies and gentlemen, the second show of our fourth season! Seeing the entire company gathered together for the first time always makes my heart beat faster, prouder and ever more grateful. This cast has been handpicked to deliver on every detail of Rachel’s vision for this holiday family show primed for our loyal audience and newcomers alike. It’s a feast of singing, dancing and musical, magical special effects and heart-warming charms expertly performed in a fresh, gorgeously designed production you have come to expect at Paramount! The original Cameron Mackintosh/Disney Theatrical Broadway production opened in 2006, closing just last spring after an almost seven year sold-out run! Think of how lucky we are to have a show of this pedigree right here in Aurora at Paramount. Make this show part of your holiday celebration of love and family by attending the fun, beauty and wisdom of the story that is MARY POPPINS!
I can’t leave you this morning without bringing your attention to the special 3 Show Broadway Series Subscription still available. Read all about the benefits of becoming a subscriber: premium seating, free exchanges, our Subscriber Concierge staff, subscriber discounts and the lowest subscription rate of any major theatre in the state! Directing our upcoming productions of TOMMY and LES MISERABLES, I cannot wait to see the miniature models of the sets designed by Linda Buchanan (ANNIE & MISS SAIGON) and Kevin Depinet (FIDDLER & RENT) respectively! The staging has already begun on these productions and casting is almost complete for “Les Miz”…more auditions still to come!
A great day ahead! And I wish the same to you!
Love & thanks,
Jim
