RiverEdge Park
THE RIVEREDGE PARK STORY
More than a decade ago, former Aurora Mayor Thomas J. Weisner envisioned a riverfront park in the heart of downtown. The goal was to create a place for recreation and live entertainment, surrounded by nature. That vision became RiverEdge Park.
Developed through the Aurora Park Collaborative, the park was designed by Muller & Muller Architects, drawing inspiration from renowned public spaces like Millennium Park and Milwaukee’s Marcus Amphitheater. Construction began in 2012, with landscaping by Terry Guen Design Associates creating an organic, welcoming environment framed by the Aurora skyline.
RiverEdge Park launched its inaugural concert season in the Summer of 2013, featuring artists including Idina Menzel, Loretta Lynn, Randy Travis and Trace Adkins. It also became home to Downtown Alive and the annual Blues on the Fox festival. Since then, major performers such as KISS, Willie Nelson, OneRepublic and Peter Frampton have taken the stage.
In 2016, the park was renamed Thomas J. Weisner RiverEdge Park in honor of the former mayor’s lasting impact on Aurora and its arts community.
Today, Thomas J. Weisner RiverEdge Park continues to evolve as a premier outdoor venue and a peaceful riverfront destination—whether hosting concerts or welcoming visitors to simply relax and enjoy the scenery. RiverEdge is truly your backyard away from home.
