During the heart of the American Civil War, Col. Robert Gould Shaw is put in command of the first all African-American regiment. A thrown together band of runaway slaves, gravediggers, free men and everything in between becomes the 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. Battling the doubt of their own army, the men fight to become one of the most valuable regiments in the entire war. Starring Denzel Washington, Matthew Broderick and Morgan Freeman.
