DONOR SPOTLIGHT: DAN DEUFEL
For more than a decade, the Paramount’s good friend Dan Deufel has been a leader in contributing to the theatre’s philanthropic goals. Dan supports programs at the theatre throughout the year and always donates with a smile on his face, as though it’s his privilege.
At the 2014 Gala, Dan explained that he loves the Paramount “because of what the theatre does for Aurora.” He spoke to the attendees about what this city means to him and how much he cherishes our beautiful theatre. Dan Deufel is truly a gentleman, a one-of-a-kind loyal donor to the Paramount Theatre and a good friend to many.
Dan’s generous support over the years has allowed hundreds, if not thousands, of underprivileged children to see a show at the Paramount, free-of-charge, through the Dreams Do Come True program. His contributions help to sustain the Broadway Series and numerous other projects throughout the year. Katie Arko, Vice President of Development, considers her friendship with Dan one of the most rewarding parts of her job, “I’ve never had to twist Dan’s arm to support a campaign at the theatre. When we speak about the Paramount, it’s obvious how much it means to him. He has such a warm spirit, not to mention his wicked sense of humor! We consider Dan part of the Paramount family, and we are truly grateful for his kindness.”
The Paramount Theatre is living proof that every single gift counts. Without support from the community, the Paramount’s Broadway Series would not exist and our tickets would not be affordable to most. Without support, we wouldn’t be able to maintain our beautiful, historic landmark building. Generosity from people like Dan Deufel, corporations, foundations and other individuals, has allowed the theatre to increase attendance from 50,000 people in 2011, to more than 300,000 people this season. Thank you, Dan, and thank you to everyone who gives so generously to the Paramount!
Exclusive Cocktail Party
More than 60 people attended the exclusive cocktail party and final dress rehearsal for Oklahoma!. Premiere Society members in the VIP Category or higher are invited to attend this closed rehearsal, the night before each Broadway show opens. Set designers, costume designers and Broadway and theatre staff talk with the guests about the creation of the show and give them behind-the-scenes information. Guests are then invited to stay for the final dress rehearsal before the show opens the next day. For more information about the Premiere Society, click here or contact Vice President of Development Katie Arko at (630) 723-2484.
Dreams Do Come True
Thanks to your generosity, the Dreams Do Come True program allows children and families that come from economically challenged situations to see a Broadway show for free. Because of your donations, we were able to make the holidays extra special for over 1,500 children and families by treating them to A Christmas Story for free. Learn more
“We at Big Brothers Big Sisters appreciate all the staff at the Paramount Theatre did to make it a special night for the children and families in our program. Everyone was excited to meet some of the cast members and be able to ask them questions. Overall it was a great night, and we at BBBS appreciate all that was done to make this night special for the kids in our program.”
What a Difference Your Dollar Makes
- When you donate $8, you send one underprivileged child to see a show at the Paramount, free of charge
- When you donate to the Broadway series, you allow the Paramount to build every single show from scratch; from handmade costumes, to every piece of the set being built, to every prop, to paying every actor and director
- When you donate $500 or more to the Premiere Society, you become part of the foundation that holds up the theatre, that sustains it and ensures its future success
What’s Happening Right Now
